  • Quilts for Haiti

Posted on February 1st, 2010 Mrs. Rabel

You’ve given money to the Student Council’s fundraising drive. Now you have another opportunity to get involved. We have set up a quilting corner in the school library for the month of February where we will assemble simple warm quilts for people in Haiti.
When you have a few minutes to spare, please drop in and lend a hand. The work is simple, the need is great, and every little bit helps.
    Parents, you are welcome, too.

  • Sustainable Resources 11

Posted on November 27th, 2009 Mr. McDonald

This course is new to CHSS this semester! It is a science course that prepare students for further education, for their careers, and for issues they will face in their adult lives.  The Sustainable Resources 11 curriculum engages students in the investigation of scientific questions related to resources found in British Columbia and the development of plausible solutions.

Our students in partnership with other local professionals have been studying the concept of “Sustainability”. Sustainability is examined in a variety of topical areas including; forestry, fisheries, agriculture, mining, energy, and career opportunities.

It is important for students to recognize the environmental impacts of extracting and processing these resources and the steps being taken to protect the environment.
